Published in the Official Gazette on December 24, 2024, this communiqué outlines the updated administrative fines to be imposed in 2025 under Article 20 of the Environmental Law No. 2872 for environmental violations. According to the repeated Article 298 of the Tax Procedure Law No. 213, such fines are adjusted annually in accordance with the revaluation rate announced by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance. For 2024, the revaluation rate has been set at 43.93%. Consequently, the administrative fines related to environmental offenses will be increased accordingly and enforced as of January 1, 2025.
This update aims to enhance the deterrent effect of legal penalties imposed on individuals or entities that pollute the environment, operate without permits, or violate environmental regulations. By adjusting the fines annually, the legislation ensures alignment with economic changes and maintains the real value of penalties over time.
